‘My head is on fire!’

Lemme hold you while I say this- it’s not.

Hi friends!!!!

How are you? It’s been five days since we last met up haven’t we and it has been lot. With Airtel and Zenith bank being the current weapons fashioned against Nigerians, I’d definitely say this independence szn was one to remember.

Anyhoo, back to why my head is on fire- or not on fire, I genuinely think we humans like to exaggerate a lot. It’s become more obvious recently especially with my introspective sessions and deep thoughts within Oyinda. And I have realized that neither my eyes, nor my nose or even my eye that one time a chunk of pepper fell into it, have been on fire.

Picture this. It’s a rainy Saturday morning and you hear a scream from your sister’s room. Panting, you run in there to see what’s going on and you meet her with her hair on fire… literally💀

I wish I could say I ran to pour water on it and it became my hero origin story but nope. In fact, I was asleep when everything happened and I only just came into the room after her hair had been quenched.

Some hero I am, Tch.

Anyways, back to the real story we’re here for. Lately, I’ve been very overwhelmed. You know when things come easy to you as a ‘gifted child’ and you take up the whole world on your shoulders and now you’re burnt out? Yes. YES! I am burnt out.

But you know the good thing? My hair…was not on fire🤭. Regardless of everything, it still won’t be on fire and burn to a crisp.

So you know what I did? I disappeared instead. The same way Metroman disappeared because he was tired of fighting Megamind and just wanted to chill without the constraints of being a super hero( if you don’t get this, go stream Megamind on Netflix now). I took one of the things I often deny myself of- a break.

In doing so, my eyes have opened yet again. This week I’m looking forward to doing new stuff. Being less stressful, happier and smiling a lot more because the only thing prettier than myself is my writing🙈 (If you disagree, punch yourself, idc💀)

So, living forward in this timeline where I’m happier, I’m going to take life slow (this is the hundredth time I’m promising this😭), school resumes in three more weeks and while I’m not looking forward to going back due to the water situation of summer ‘24, it would be wonderful to see friends again.

Who knows, I might even decide to go out or something.

Anyways, the point I have been trying to make in all my ramblings is that, as long as your head is not on fire, there’s always a solution, a way forward. And if your head is truly on fire, pour water on it and wear wigs, skrr.

Regardless of what happens, you still live. The yorubas (I think) are the ones who said ‘The person who’s alive is the one who gets to give praises’ (my Yoruba is terrible so I no fit talk am properly, no hold me down abeg).

So, yes my dears, live life. Stay safe, stay happy, stay healthy. Hospital don cost, biko.

And now, for a random fact that you CLEARLY did not ask for:

Do you know that if 9/11 didn’t happen, there would be no 50 shades of grey?

So after 9/11, one oga, I forgot his name, decided he wanted to be passionate about music and a girl admired him. So she wrote an Harry Potter style fan fiction about him and later published it as twilight. Do you see where this is going yet?

Anyways, E.L. James too o, wrote another fan fiction based off Twilight. Brief interjection, I haven’t seen nor read Twight but I cannot fathom how that happened. From wolf to uncle Grey? Okay. Anyways, she figured since publishing worked for the twilight person, it would work for her too. And that’s how it happened.

In my opinion sha, they shouldn’t have bothered.

It is almost two am in the morning. My bedtime doest pass long ago. I pray thee, I must retire to my dwellings.

P.S. ten months after we started this project, we got to a 100 subscribers!! If this was YouTube, I’d have bought a cake and smashed my face in it or something but since you guys are closest (Ahem) to my heart, I would be presenting you with something else.
